An appeal for education of children in rural and tribal communities

The Kaigal Education and Environment Program, is an intervention that began in 2002, in the Kaigal Valley, nestling an elephant corridor. Over the last 20 years, this program has touched over 26000 people across 60 villages. The program is implemented by Foundation for Education, Ecology and Livelihood (FEEL), a registered Public Charitable Trust, managed by a team of educationists.

Our education initiatives

Snapshot of our work

Schools entered the 3rd decade of their functioning, with a total student strength of 44 students.
Our learning centres entered their 6th year of functioning with close to 100 students, in 5 villages
Partners in the setting up of “Satvan” at The Valley School, a progam for Native Plant Restoration and Conservation
Over 16 years, the EEP programs have brought hundreds of children in touch with nature and communities
Invited to participate as a resource organization for the curriculum committee of the Tamil Nadu Foundational Literacy and Numeracy initiative (2021-23)
Recognized as one of the success stories of grassroots intervention, in “Stories of Change”, an annual compendium of social interventions by the Azim Premji University (2019)

Our plans ahead

Strengthening the communication skills and English language competencies of the children
Creation of a resource repository of the materials being developed and piloted in the schools
Bringing in digital learning for the older students attending our learning centres
Supporting the government schools in neighbouring villages with enrichment programs for high school students
Designing and conducting continuous education programs for our teachers
Sharing the concepts for environment education and conservation with school education systems other organizations

Sponsor a nutritious meal for a month for the schools with a donation of Rs 12,000

Sponsor school bags and stationery for our children with a donation of Rs 15,000 per year

Sponsor an educational day-trip for all the school children for an amount of Rs 30,000

A donation of Rs 50,000 can support 1 set of uniform and footwear for our school children

Support a child’s education in our school for one year for Rs 50,000

Support a corpus fund for sustaining our work with any donation of your choice

Support 5 learning centres for a month for with a donation of Rs 30,000
