The Kaigal Group

During the early part of 2021, the teachers of our Sanctuary Schools, a few students from the Schools and our Kaigal Trust team got together at the Kaigal Conservation Centre for a shoot and a happy get together.

Anaswara a Ph.D student in ecology from IISER Trivandrum does research on butterflies to identify and document  their host plants in the Kaigal and Thottakanama forests in December 2022.

PhD student, Kavya, from IISER (Indian Institute of Science Education and Research), Tiruvananthapuram, residing in Kaigal Conservation Centre since January 2021, studying foraging pattern of honey bees in forest boundary and farms

Manasvi , Post Graduate student from The University of Transdisciplinary Sciences (FRLHT),Bangalore, working on “Ethnobotanical studies on medicinal plants used by Yanadi Tribes” in Chittoor district

Jayapal from FEEL  also assisted Kavya by explaining the benefits of her study  to the neighbourhood farmers and locating bee boxes in the farm boundary.

Akshay, PG student from IISER, Thiruvananthapuram, spent over three months at the Kaigal Conservation Centre from March 2021 observing the behavior of social spider Stegodyphus sarasinorum
