Dr Sudha Premnath
Founder/Managing Trustee

Dr. Sudha Premnath, PhD, is the Founder and Managing Trustee of the Kaigal Trust, with a background in Zoology and Behavioral Ecology. After earning her PhD from the Indian Institute of Science, she worked in environmental education, including a long tenure at The Valley School in Bangalore, where she taught and developed science curricula. Her passion for biodiversity conservation led her to engage in habitat restoration and establish a Germ Plasm Bank near Koundinya Wild Life Sanctuary. Dr. Sudha's deep connection with tribal communities inspired her to found schools in remote villages and establish sustainable livelihood programs for marginalized women and youth through the Kaigal Education and Environment Program (KEEP).

C Premnath
Trustee

Mr.C.Premnath is an Engineer by qualification and has donned the roles of a Technocrat, Consultant, Businessman, Educator and an Administrator across many years of experience in industry and educational settings. He was also a teacher and administrator at The Valley School. He has played several roles in the long history of the Kaigal Education and Environment Program and has been engaged in all aspects of the work since its conception to implementation. Premnath works very closely with the livelihood program team, training and guiding them on processes of planning, sales, delivery and record keeping, besides providing overall direction to the work of the organization.

N J Krishnan
Trustee

Krishnan has been – serially, over 45 years - an engineer, entrepreneur, consultant and educationist. His core areas of industry experience have been in the use of technology in banking and financial services and driving process efficiencies and project implementation making effective use of technology. Joining The Valley School to teach Physics, he moved on to teaching subjects he wanted to learn and has also been the head of the school and the head of the teacher’s resource centre. Krishnan mentors the team working in the livelihood program – supporting them in the design of efficient processes, planning, marketing and financial management besides providing overall direction to the work of the organization.

Sriranjani Ranganathan
Advisor

Sriranjani Ranganathan has over two decades of experience in the education and corporate sectors, her passion for education leading her to the social sector. She is a founder member of The Learning Network, an initiative to bring together educators across the country for sharing and learning. Sriranjani taught high school and junior school at The Valley School, (KFI), an experience she regards as having transformed her approach to education. She has worked extensively with the public education system in teacher development programs and has served on state and national curriculum committees. She is also a trained Early Childhood Educator and her dream job is to work with young children. Team Members

Jayapalappa P
Education Programs, Co-ordinator

Jayapal has been with the program since from 2004 and is the Head Master of our two schools. A gifted
teacher, Jayapal has been instrumental in the development of our school program from the very beginning
and anchors the environment education programs as well. A wildlife enthusiast, Jayapal was trained by
many scientists and biologists and has been the key field resource person for all of our conservation and
documentation projects. He also takes care of the overall maintenance, administration and accounts of the
Centre and Schools on a day-to-day basis. He lives with his parents in a village 2 km from one of our
schools.

Jyothi T
Teacher
Jyothi has been working in our schools since 2011 and teaches in the Parijatham Sanctuary School at Kalligutta. She likes to work with children and is keen to do art and sketching work, She likes to read inspirational books and is keen to learn communicating in English. She takes care of the kitchen garden in the Parijatham school. Prior to joining us, Jyothi was working as a Vidya volunteer for 4 years in local government schools. She lives with her husband and son about 12 km from our school.
Ademma S
Play school teaching assistant
Ademma began her journey with us as a student in 2006. Braving all odds, she completed her schooling with us and graduated from the NIOS. She assists the teachers in Parijatham School at Kalligutta with the playgroup of children aged 2.5 - 6 years. Ademma is very skilled with embroidery, macarame and pottery and teaches in the craft program of our school. She likes to learn English and enjoys sketching and making play school materials. Her two children are also attending our school.
Ganapathy E
Caretaker, Maintenance
Ganapathy Anna as is called by everyone has been with the Kaigal program since 2008. Ganapathy takes care of the entire property and is also the primary caretaker. His job responsibilities are as varied as they are vast ranging from procuring milk to being the security managing the water supply to interacting with visitors and guiding them to the appropriate people. He lives with his wife in a village 2 km from the Kaigal Centre.
